A PERSONAL NOTE FROM FRANCINE

Welcome to all our new Daring Woman Success Circle Members and Subscribers!

I apologize for my silence. It has been a long time since I sent out our Bi-Weekly Digest “Living as a Daring Woman – Dare to Soar in Life and Business.” But the last couple of months have been a roller coaster ride to say the least.

First, due to cost cutting measures, I was laid off in June from my position as a Senior Business Development Executive for a $19 billion, multinational management consulting company where I was responsible for marketing, sales and partnership initiatives in thirteen states from Colorado to Hawaii. My situation is far from unique and true to my mission and desire of Living as a Daring Woman, I am determined to always see the silver lining in everything, and turn any setback into a comeback or any obstacle into a massive opportunity. So that said, I’ll be totally focused on the growth and expansion of The Daring Woman™ and in bringing women entrepreneurs and professionals just like you programs, tips, resources and strategies that will assist you in living your best life, being your best self, and in building a successful business or career doing what you love. Second, in line with my passion, in July, I hosted a 15-Speaker Telesummit, Create Success from The Inside Out, Dare to Live Happy, Healthy and Whole. Third, I attended two of the most inspirational and transformational training/events of my entire life and career: High Performance Academy with Brendon Burchard and a few selected guest speakers and Star Power with Paula Abdul, Joe Polish and Brendon Burchard (and I got Paula to say yes to be interviewed for The Daring Woman! – more on that in this digest)

Lastly, on Tuesday July 27th, I found out that I made the FORBES List of the Top 20 Women for Entrepreneurs to Follow on Twitter. It is such an honor and a privilege to be nominated by Forbes and to be in the company of such talented and empowering women.

BECOME A JOINT VENTURE MAESTRO
As a solo-professional or small business owner, you have very limited resources: time, money, access, connections or knowledge. So collaborating with other solo-preneurs or businesses is essential/crucial to the survival and growth of your business

But Joint Venture is a lot like Dating! Partnering is both a skill and a mindset that is master by only a few. The proof is that over 70% of alliances fail and over 50% of the marriages end in divorce.

So before you approach any potential partner and to increase your chances of success once you do, you must ask yourself these three very important questions (as you would hopefully if you were looking for a life partner):

1) What Are You Looking For?
2) What Do You Have To Offer?
3) Who Would Constitute The Right Partner for You?

Brief Answer to Question #1: First, find individuals, companies, products or services that complement your own offering and who target the same market/niche (don’t choose people who have a competing offering (product or service)

Suffice to say that the clearer you are about who you serve, what you provide … the easiest it will be for you to identify and recruit potential partners

Brief Answer to Question #2: This is extremely important because this step is often how you can tell the professionals from the amateurs. Remember that it has to be a win-win for all parties involved, especially if you need them more than they need you. You need to craft a value proposition that is compelling to the individual or organization you want to collaborate/partner with.

(The more you have to offer, the better positioned you’ll be in identifying joint venture opportunities (and the more choosy you can be)

Brief Answer to Question #3: First, go back to what you need to grow your business and determine who can offer these missing pieces or add to your current structure.

Look for individuals, companies, organizations, charities or groups that have similar goals, mission statements, or future outlook as you do

Know your strengths and limitations and find partner who complement them

Be crystal clear on what are looking to achieve – what your goals are

Think about the kind of partner you want in terms of their values, their marketing style, their reputation ….. you want to partner with someone who has a communication and marketing style that is compatible with yours.

There is a lot more at play with choosing the right partner for your business. When I consult with clients, companies or organizations, I help them identify and match potential partners against 10 Critical Success Factors.

How often are we faced with uncomfortable situations or criticism and stand frozen in shock or find ourselves caught up in someone else’s negativity? Humor is a fabulous way to take the edge off those awkward moments of discomfort. Whether you’re at a dinner party or an annual meeting, turning someone’s sarcasm or mis-step into a humorous anectdote is a great way to be popular with everybody, from the CEO to the guy who cleans the office. Remember that your funny bone is also one way to stay healthy — it’s a great stress reliever and even helps to control chronic pain and overall good health!

Although worrying seems to be part of our every-day human experiences, it’s certainly one of the worst parts. To begin with most of the things we worry about never actually come to pass – we simply distract ourselves from whatever good things are around us in the moment at hand. And frighteningly, the law of attraction says that what we focus on will naturally expand.

So how do we attract abundance? Quite simply, it means we must all of our strength to consciously set aside worry and instead, focus on our dreams and our goals. We must intentionally see the joy around us and grab every wonderful opportunity each day. Although it may not prevent bad things from happening, you will definitely have a more wonderful experience in between them.
